Ecocolumns

On the second Saturday of S.T.E.M. we created two Ecocolumns. To create them we cut and taped many 2 L bottles that contained different materials. We first started with an aquatic level on the bottom. Then we left an empty layer before we added the sand and gravel layer. We placed a terrestrial layer on the top for a total of four layers. Within the soil we place a small decomposition layer. Some staff and members went outside to collect some living organisms to place in our ecocolumns, they savaged small worms and a few other small insects. Finally, we placed a few of the Red Kidney beans we grew from last S.T.E.M. Saturday into one of the ecocolumns and in the other, we placed Mustard leaf seeds that had to soak in water for a couple of hours before being planted. Then we placed the ecocolumns in an area exposed to sunlight.
